Excavator

Excavator

Excavators are heavy construction equipment consisting of a boom, dipper, bucket, and cab on a rotating platform known as the "house". The house sits atop an undercarriage with tracks or wheels. Excavator is the machine that can excavate the soil of various types forcefully and then using the hydraulic system a hydraulic force is generated and utilizing this force bucket is pull back towards the machine. The bucket of the excavator is replaceable. If the front bucket is exchanged with some other attachments then the excavator can be used for multi-purpose. For example pile diver, hydraulic jackhammer, etc.

* Excavators are mostly used for digging soils and for loading dump trucks. It is either of;

1. Crawler excavator

The crawler excavator runs on two endless tracks (chain wheel system). These types of excavators are used in hilly areas where risks of sliding of machinery are on the verge. A crawler-type excavator has low ground pressure because of the spreading of load on a large area. Therefore, it is also used where soil support is weak.

2.Wheel excavator

Wheel excavator runs on wheels and is used for excavation and loading of dump trucks and most of the time it is only used for plain ground operations. Because of the wheel, it is not suitable for hilly areas due to its low grip value to the ground.

Excavator Applications

The excavator has increased the work speed tremendously. It is used extensively in numerous fields, including the following:

1. Wood removal in forests

2. Normal grading work and landscaping

3. Cutting of brushes with attachments

4. Demolition of structures, and removal of debris

5. Mining industry

6. Dredging of rivers

7. Installation of piles in foundations

8. Digging of foundations, holes, and trenches

9. Handling of heavy materials

10. Laying of heavy pipes
